San Antonio Speedway

DSC_0031 These are just a few casual pictures from quite a while back, nearly a month ago. Krizia and I visited the San Antonio Speedway to see my friend Patrick and his brother Chris race. We both were able to ride in the passengers seat and get a first-hand experience as to how it felt. Krizia enjoyed it and said that it felt like a roller-coaster ride.  It was a pretty thrilling experience, like that of an action movie. Patrick placed first in his class, which really comes as no surprise. He’s very passionate about cars and enjoys the thrill of racing. Chris does it for fun too. Afterwards, we visited Krizia’s house to eat, unwind, and sing karaoke with her sister Kristel. A perfect way to spend the rest of a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Let’s Get Started

April 12, 2010 041 Fall semester is four months away in August. Seems like I have plenty of time, right? Wrong. Though it may seem like I have plenty of time, it will all eventually go away fast if I don’t make good use of it.

Yesterday, I visited College Station to catch a glimpse of where I will be staying and what the city had to offer. Though it may be bigger than Killeen, it seems to be a more simple and relaxing place. Both places can get busy nonetheless. A&M keeps College Station busy the same way that Fort Hood keeps Killeen busy. The first thing I did as soon as I arrived in College Station was look for apartments. I found a very decent place not too far from the university that offers everything that I need and more for a very decent price. After visiting a few more places and eating lunch with my Pre-Kindergarten and C-Stat buddy Christina, I decided to sign the lease. I will finally be moving out of the house soon! It’s kind of scary and exciting at the same time. Afterwards, Christina took me on a nice little tour of campus life and everything I should be expecting.

The campus is gargantuan, probably bigger than University of Texas Austin and Texas State University combined. The places is packed with students everywhere and the scenery is beautiful. No matter at what angle I looked at the campus, there was always a tree or another form of mother nature’s beauty. It’s gorgeous and there’s no avoiding it. Below are only a few pictures of the campus that don’t begin to fathom everything that it has to offer. After touring the campus, we went to the mall where I stocked up on some A&M swag. Window stickers, shirts for my girlfriend and I, etc.

For dinner, we had sushi and for the first time I tried fried ice cream which was awesome. Christina’s didn’t want to eat anymore after the first bite because her mind was blown. Even I didn’t know how in the world it was possible. O.o

All in all it was a good and busy day. It was a really exciting place to visit and I can’t wait to be back in a few months. :)

Top Tier

DSC_0009 Yesterday, a Street Fighter IV tournament was held at GameFX, a new small shop in Killeen. My friends Anthony, Matt, Raymond, and many others competed for the number one spot. As far as I know, there was a pretty good turn up, about 30+ entrants. There were even people coming from places such as Austin and San Antonio. I was not able to compete because I had to work, but I took the time to visit during my breaks and play a few casual matches. Raymond emerged in 2nd place, right behind a San Antonio competitor. He seemed to be slightly upset, but at least in a sense he can proudly hold the title of being the best Street Fighter player in Killeen. Nonetheless, it was a pretty good event that I enjoyed watching. You can view the results here.

Afterwards, we had a small get-together at Matt’s house with a few more people. We were all able to finally catch up together before leaving back to school before the break ended. It was good being able to have dinner and relax. We also played Heavy Rain again for a while, but to me it didn’t seem to be as intriguing as the first time we played it because I already knew what was going to happen. Still, I had a good time. A perfect way to end my busy day.

So, as of today, Spring Break is just about over. I hope that everybody enjoyed their week off and continues enjoy what is left of it. If you’re leaving, please have a good trip and be safe! :)

Trip of Desire

DSC_0031 Hello again. It appears that another week of Spring Break has come and gone by so fast. Crazy, isn’t it? I spent half of this past weekend with Chloe. We visited the Blanton Museum of Art to see the Desire exhibit currently on display. Cameras use was not allowed during the exhibit so I could not take any photos during that time. Nonetheless, it was a truly interesting display of creativity. The exhibit focuses on the aspect of, you guessed it, desire. There were so many different types of works on an abundant variety of mixed media from traditional engravings and oil-based paintings, to film and other types of digital media. When we think of desire, we think of it as something that people want. After seeing all of the creative works of all of these artists, after seeing their desires, desires which I never even thought of seeing in someone else’s shoes, I thought about the things that I desired in life. I’ve come to realize that I don’t desire much in life, which is a good thing to me. I’m happy with what I have. :)

So yeah, here’s a gallery of Chloe and I spending our time in Austin. We didn’t get much outside of the Museum because we were busy having too much fun around the city. Enjoy!
