I think it’s working.

by Ruiz on Oct.17, 2009, under life, random

Hello. It’s Saturday morning and I’m coming to you all empty-handed. No new photos, videos, or anything. But I did want to let you all know that I am doing fine. Hell, since my initiative to boycott unnecessary things, I’ve been doing great. It feels good coming home or waking up in the morning just to know that I can’t play games or waste time staying online. A lot more time has been dedicated to studying, and I know the payoff will be more than generously worth it. But here’s a quick rundown of what’s been going on this past week:

  • If you don’t know already, I deactivated my Facebook account and boycotted all of my Xbox 360 games and controllers. Spending 500+ hours on a game and even more time browsing a social networking community just isn’t the thing to do anymore. Talking about it is a waste of time too.
  • I’m becoming a studyholic. There’s good and bad things to this. The good is obvious, but the bad is that I’m always being invited to hang out or go out with friends. I’ve declined them all, with the exception of one.
  • I’ve been showing a greater appreciation for music. I’m doing as much as possible to explore and expand my music interests. While Kpop will always be my number one (don’t judge me), finding new Hip-Hop, Trance, Electronica, Lounge, and Rock tunes is always a treat.I have a friend who’s into A Day to Remember. I tried to get into it, but all I learned from it is that screaming-type music is something I can’t study to. It usually results in me making a sarcastic remark such as “Could you please stop yelling? I can’t understand you..” I think I need to try harder hahaha.
  • I’m working out again now. I’m done with being lazy. Just because I don’t have a P.E. class or an inspiring coach this semester doesn’t mean I should put off what I’ve been doing for a while. I swear, I’m convinced that I will have a body like 비(Rain) (No homo on this picture, I didn’t put those chocolate bars there) by the end of the year. That V-shaped torso is SICK and getting something like that is going to be a chore, but I’m sure gonna try. It’s alright, I all need is something to hype me up (like A Day to Remember, lol) and I’m ready to DO IT!!
  • I saw this video. I like this video. This video is nice.

No more games. LITERALLY.

by Ruiz on Oct.12, 2009, under life

Last night, I spent 6 hours studying for an exam that I knew I was more than likely going to fail. Why did I end up in this situation? Because I’m a fool. Only a fool would make unwise decisions while telling himself that it’ll be fine. I’ve been shooting myself in the foot this whole time and I think it’s time to stop. Because of my stupid actions, I’ve lost any and all chances of getting an A in two of my classes. Enough is enough. It’s time I took initiative to take control of my life and my real priorities. Here’s what’s going to happen:

  1. I’m getting rid of Street Fighter 4. If you’ve been keeping up with me, you would know that I have a horrible addiction to SF4. I’ve tried to take initiatives to limit my play time, but it’s never worked out. The only way to rid myself of this addiction is to kill the source. I’m giving all of my games, controllers and related accessories to someone to hold until the end of the semester. What sucks about this is that I will not get to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when it comes out, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. The only accessory I’m keeping is going to be the remote so that I can listen to music through Windows Media Canter.
  2. I will be suspending my Facebook account within the next 24 hours. I love Facebook just as much as the next person, but when you spend 25% of your internet time on it, it’s clearly time to let go of it. Just like SFIV, I will be  temporarily suspending it until the end of the semester. My Twitter will stay open though. All I do on it is occasionally take 2 minutes to update my status on it, so there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ll also keep updating ruizwashere.com, but it will more than likely be on a weekly or bi-weekly basis now. Still, if you need me, tweet me. Or just text…
  3. I will be forfeiting my full-time position at Best Buy for a part-time position. Being a full-time student and employee sounded like a good idea back then, but it’s now a nightmare. I hate working all day just to come home with no energy to study. I’ve already sent a request to step down and will be reducing my availability. There’s other employees over there that actually need the position and the health benefits more than I do. It’s the least I can do for them and myself.

These are the three main main initiatives I will be taking to better improve myself. It’s about time I stopped making excuses for myself and took responsibility for my actions. I’m really sorry if this is an inconvenience for anybody. Thank you for understanding.

Oh, and if you think that can’t go through with this, then just try me.

Shopped: Homecoming ‘09

by Ruiz on Oct.10, 2009, under shopped

Hopmecoming '09 Eunice, as an older sibling I’ve always been negative about you. But don’t let anybody tell you what to wear or who you should go to homecoming with. Don’t strive to be “normal” or like “anyone else”. Just be you, and you’ll be fine. I’m proud, have fun.

She won.

by Ruiz on Oct.09, 2009, under life

Sister: (enters the room) Hey Ruiz! Do you remember that one girl? She was a Junior when you were a Senior. No wait! She was a Sophmore when you were a Senior. Her name was uhhh… (*name revoked*)(*name revoked*)-something.

Ruiz: (displays a picture on computer) Her?

Sister: Yeah her! She won homecoming queen today!

Ruiz: (pauses) Oh…

Sister: What?

Ruiz: That’s my ex-girlfriend.

Sister: Who’s Mike?

Ruiz: I said that’s my ex-girlfriend.

Sister: Yeah, who’s Mike??

Ruiz: (frustrated) That’s. My. EX. Girlfriend.

Sister: Ohhhh, sorry. Why did you two break up? She seems like a popular and nice person.

Ruiz: (not knowing what to say) I don’t know. People just break up.

Sister: Oh… okay… (slowly exits the room)

Ruiz: (sighs and closes picture) Must be because I’m unpopular and mean…
